Meet Sarah

Sarah Hawn is a dedicated and experienced educator with over 18 years of Special Education teaching expertise. Sarah brings a compassionate, inclusive, and thoughtful approach to learning; fostering environments where students are encouraged to explore.

Throughout nearly two decades in the classroom, Sarah has supported students in a variety of different educational environments, including a hospital setting, an educational environment for young mothers, Specialized Program Classes, and the traditional classroom. Her ability to make meaningful connections with students and their families allows students to take risks while being supported for their diverse learning needs. Her teaching is rooted in empathy, respect, and a belief in each student’s potential to grow intellectually and personally.

Sarah is known for her warm, approachable presence and her ability to meet students where they are—academically, socially, and emotionally. She tailors her instruction to reflect the needs of each learner while maintaining a strong grounding in educational best practices and humanistic values. She has worked closely with her colleagues to support learners in their classrooms through her leadership in schools, at the school board level, and as an instructor at the Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa.
